Good news – the final draft for The Amnesia Project is now done. Now I just need to sort out all the technical gubbins and it will be ready for launch.
I am feeling a mix of excitement and terror. Perhaps it needs a tenth redraft. Perhaps I should make Max blond. Perhaps I should make Dr Hawkins into a giant talking rabbit…
And this is why novels take so long to write. There’s always that nagging doubt, always the thought that it’s not quite ready, that something else needs to be done. Maybe I should put it away for a while and come back to it next year…
Well, not this time. I’ve sat on this one for far too long already. It may be brilliant. It could be awful. I can’t tell any more. But fair or foul, I’ve come to accept that it’s never going to be any better. It’s time to leave the nest and find a roost of its own, hopefully on a tablet or smartphone or computer monitor in your hands.
After all, I’ve got more to write.
